Obituary:

SGT Kristopher Mathis was born on March 18, 1986 in Irving Texas to Jimmy and Mary Mathis. He joined the United States Army July 13th 2005.

After enlisting, he conducted Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Infantry Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in October 2005 at Fort Benning, Georgia. SGT Mathis attended the Warrior Leader Course (WLC) in May 2006. He completed the Special Operations Combat Medic Course in May 2007. In July 2008, SGT Mathis was assigned to the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

His military education and schooling includes BCT, Infantry (11B MOS) AIT, U.S. Army Basic Airborne School, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Level C (SERE C), the Special Operations Combat Medic Course (SOCM), Civil Affairs Medical Sergeants Course (CAMS), Emergency Medical Technician Course (EMT), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Warrior Leader Course (WLC), Mediation & Negotiation Course, and Modern Army Combatives program Level 1 (MACP).

SGT Mathis served as the Civil Affairs Team Medic for Civil Affairs Team (CAT) 634 in Charlie Company, 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne) under the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Prior to his current duties he was assigned with CAT 631, Charlie Company and deployed to Tajikistan as the Team Medic from November 2008 to July 2009 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF). He recently deployed to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation NEW DAWN from March 2010 to December 2010 in support of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP).

SGT Mathis' awards and decorations include the Parachutist Badge, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (w/Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon.

SGT Mathis is survived by his wife Jordan Ashley Mathis and son Chase Mathis of Sanford, North Carolina, father Jimmy Mathis and mother Mary Mathis of Irving, Texas.

Details Of Part 1:

We will stage at the AA parking lot across from DPS1. When the coach returns with Sgt Mathis to DPS1, we will position ourselves in front of the coach and ride in the procession to Donnelly Funeral Home. Big flag bikes are encouraged and all bikes and cages are welcome.

This is part 1 of three parts. Parts two and three will be posted on another itinerary. 2nd part is on Monday evening and part three is Tuesday Morning.
